Declan Brady
Bsc (hons) Computer Science, Adv. Dip G.T.
GANZ Member
Declan originally graduated from Sydney Gestalt Institute, and was on TGI faculty for five years. He has spent over 20 years working in the corporate and therapeutic sectors. During this time, holding senior managerial positions in several organisations, he has always been interested in understanding how to best motivate the people who work with him, providing a stimulating environment for them and supporting them to pursue their own individual goals/needs within the restraints of organisational life. At that time he undertook leadership training to better facilitate his ability to lead others. Needing to expand on this training, he then underwent four years of Gestalt therapy training and graduated in 2010 from the Sydney Gestalt Institute. He now combines his leadership and managerial experience with his lifelong interest in personal development and growth, to support others through periods of change in their lives.
Declan has a particular interest in living a spiritual life and has been practicing mindfulness meditation from the Theravadan Buddhist tradition for the past 15 years. He believes that having a core spiritual life provides support, strength and nourishment in our daily lives and he brings this passion into his therapeutic relationships with his clients. Having also studied Tai Chi, Chi Kung and Yoga over many years, Declan works with his clients in a truly holistic way. Declan currently sees clients through his private practice in Bondi (see contact details below).
Declan has also published his first book entitled “Mindfulness, Neurobiology and Gestalt Therapy” on Amazon. It discusses the application of mindfulness and the underlying neurobiology/neuroscience in therapy (not just Gestalt) and gives some useful daily living practices.
